Alcohol Hydrometer – This hydrometer is only suitable for mixtures of alcohol and water containing no sugar – i.e. pure distilled spirits.

This hydrometer can be used to measure the strength of your distilled spirits. An efficient still should produce more than 90% alcohol (ethanol). Use the hydrometer when diluting your spirits to a drinkable strength.
For spirit strength drinks dilute to 40% – 60% alcohol. Do not add flavouring until after dilution, as this may interfere with the accuracy of the hydrometer.
For liqueur strength drinks dilute to 25% – 35% alcohol. Do not add flavouring until after dilution, as this may interfere with the accuracy of the hydrometer.
NOTE: Before charcoal filtering, dilute to spirit strength!
